ITB Berlin 2026: Travel and Aviation Sector Insights

ITB Berlin 2026: Travel and Aviation Sector Insights

ITB Berlin 2026 is behind us - and for TestSolutions it was two intensive, insightful days full of discussions, new perspectives and valuable contacts.

Our Airline Business Unit was there without its own stand. This was a conscious decision: instead of being tied to a fixed location, we were able to move freely through the halls, make appointments and, above all, hold spontaneous discussions with airlines and travel tech companies. This flexibility proved to be a great advantage.

Focus on real requirements instead of trade fair rhetoric

The travel tech areas of the trade fair were exciting for us, where we were able to gain deeper insights into the technological ecosystems of the industry.

What made the discussions particularly valuable was their clarity. Away from the classic trade fair pitches, the focus was directly on specific challenges, real requirements and current developments in the industry.

In discussions with providers from various core areas of airline IT, we were able to gain input from different perspectives, including

  • Systems for booking, distribution and reservations (GDS & retailing platforms),
  • solutions for airline commerce and offer/order management,
  • providers for charter and capacity marketing,
  • as well as specialized platforms for the integration and orchestration of travel content.

The topics ranged from:

  • Modernization of existing IT infrastructures,
  • integration of new digital services,
  • use of AI in the industry,
  • through to increasing efficiency in operational processes.

This exchange in particular gave us a realistic picture of the current state of the travel and aviation industry.

Exchange at eye level - even away from the exhibition halls

One item on the program outside the exhibition halls was the IATA cocktail event at the Berlin Radio Tower. The location with a view over the exhibition grounds provided a suitable setting for discussions in a more relaxed atmosphere.

The event itself was well organized and offered the opportunity to continue contacts and initiate new discussions. It is precisely this uncomplicated exchange that is valuable for deepening relationships and continuing the dialog.

Our conclusion

ITB Berlin 2026 has once again shown how dynamically the industry is currently developing. Digitalization, efficiency and system integration continue to be the focus - at the same time, the need for pragmatic, implementable and complexity-reduced solutions is growing.

For us at TestSolutions, attending the trade fair was a helpful way to:

  • better understand current market requirements,
  • strengthen existing contacts,
  • and take away new ideas for future projects.

We look forward to deepening many of the discussions we had in the coming weeks - and to meeting some of the contacts again at the Aviation Festival Asia in Singapore.

A big thank you to all those we spoke to for the open exchange and the exciting insights!
